I was newly married and had a baby daughter. I was an orchard worker. I really loved the life. But it payed poorly. In fact, the average pay was going down. There was less money for fruit. Orchards were being replaced by housing developments. The place where I worked was up for sale. Work was getting scarce. The housing market was skyrocketing.
